Its no secret that not only do we have a healthy variety of roll-on bottles in stock, but we are also fans of the ubiquitous roll-on bottle. We bottle our own line of perfume in the clear, smooth glass 10ml model and the swirled-glass 30ml model. A good quality bottle dispenses just the right amount of oil or alcohol- based fragrance onto your skin. These bottles are spill-proof when you are applying them, or as my mom would say ‘idiot-proof.’ To be clear, i’m not calling you an idiot!
We have a wonderful new product – a 1/6 Oz, 1/2 Oz and 1 Oz Boston Round roll-on bottle with a stainless steel roller ball – very rare and hard to find. The picture above is of the 1/2 Oz [15ml] model- and for now, the 1/6 and 1 Oz. is available in Amber glass only. The tinted glass colors have UV-resistance – Amber having the highest resistance to UV-radiation. These bottles will also fit an Orifice Reducer, which are often a standard size. This model in particular is perfect if you need something between the size of the 10 and 30ml sized bottles. We are looking for another set of these, but they could be a limited-time only item. Get ’em while you can!
Speaking of UV-resistance, if you believe your project or product will be mostly indoors, you can use the clear glass. There is very little UV rays in lightbulbs of any type- UV is primarily from the sun. Clear glass is great for showcasing the colors your project/ product as well as the ‘liquor of ‘your creation. Technically, the term ‘liquor’ is used to describe Tea, but its such an old-timey, dainty word, i couldn’t resist applying it to oils!
Liquor is the color brightness of tea, not to be confused with tea liquor [that’s another post! LOL]
Of course we appreciate all the combinations of the classic 10ml size – in Amber, Clear, and Cobalt glass, with a standard, stainless steel, or glass roller ball. For all roll-on bottles, the steel and glass roller ball option is not recommended for Coconut Oil/ FCO. This is a very misunderstood phenomenon. It boils down to the fact that Coconut Oil has amazing lubricating properties, especially for steel and glass. It lubricates too well, and the balls can pop out of the rollerball housing. You can mix 20% Coconut Oil with other carriers, and that will work fine. Another confusing aspect of roll on bottles, is the fact that its not designed for pure, uncut essential oils. A euro-dropper or Glass-rod cap applicator will fit that bill. Strong essential oils can have a solvent effect on the plastic part of the roll-on insert, softening it, and the ball could pop out. The good news is: you can still mix and bottle essential oil blends with a very strong e/o content, but not more than 40% of the total bottle. If you’ve researched essential oils, they are not generally recommended to use on skin at full strength. For most fragrances and medicines, aromatherapy blends, and more, a small amount of essential oil works very well- 1%, 5%, 15% and sometimes greater.
For smaller volumes, the 1, 3.5 and 5ml sizes are available. The 1ml Amber glass roll-on is great for testers, as is the clear 3.5ml roll-on model, and the 5ml clear comes with smooth or swirled glass styles, with any form of roller-top added. We often give customers sample Zusa line perfumes in the 3.5ml size, as they don’t weigh a lot in a package. Its nice to have choices.
